San Francisco Anniversary Trip - Day 1

Laura shopping for Cheese and Wine...her favorite!!
ChinatownColumbus Ave. - This was our neighborhood during our stay in San Francisco. View from Telegraph Hill Coit Tower is a 210 ft. tower located in the Telegraph Hill neighborhood of SF. The tower, located in the city's Pioneer Park, was built in 1933 at the bequest of Lillie Hitchcock Coit to beautify the city of San Francisco: Coit bequeathed 1/3 of her estate to the city "to be expended in an appropriate manner for the purpose of adding to the beauty of the city which I have always loved".
City Lights Bookstore is an independent bookstore-publisher combination that specializes in world literature, the arts and progressive politics. Founded in 1953 by Lawrence Ferlinghetti and Peter Martin, City Lights became famous following the obscenity trial of Ferlinghetti for publishing Allen Ginsberg's influential poem Howl and Other Poems (City Lights, 1956). Trattoria Pinocchio sits on one of the most bustling corners in North Beach. We were fortunate to be staying across the street from this authentic Italian resto and were greeted every morning with the wonderful aroma of garlic. YUM!!!
