Last Post of the Year

For this last post, I tried to find a picture that summed up the year 2010 for me. I decided on this one because it signifies how we feel after such a whirlwind year for us. From traveling to NYC and Florida to Hilton Head and the Bahamas, planning a wedding, making sure everyone got to Austin for the big day, writing "Thank You" cards to packing and moving to Austin. Moving down here and then trying to do everything there is to do here...in 6 months, Ha! Needless to say we are a bit tired. Here's hoping 2011 is a bit more relaxing.
Happy New Year Everyone!!

St. Anthony Hotel

On a recent visit to San Antonio to see a Lakers vs. Spurs game, Laura and I stayed at the St. Anthony Hotel. In 1909 the St. Anthony opened it's doors to droves of anticipative patrons. Positioned as one of the most modern hotels ever created, visitors marveled at illuminated closets, bedroom lights that turned off when the door was locked from the outside, and the use of their very own private bath and toilet. These amenities, although small by today's standards, set the stage for a series of hotel innovations that made the St. Anthony a leader on the technology curve.
Since first opening it's doors, the historic St. Anthony has played host to royalty and presidents and celebrities from the worlds of music, theatre and film. First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt visited Peacock Alley, as did President Eisenhower, and General Douglas McArthur. Prince Ranier and Princess Grace of Monaco were honored with a reception in their honor in Peacock Alley during their visit to San Antonio in 1968.
Many guests from Hollywood's "Golden Era" enjoyed the style and luxury offered at The St. Anthony: Judy Garland, Mickey Rooney, Lucille Ball, Fred Astaire, Betty Hutton, and Greer Garson. President Lyndon Johnson, John Wayne, Gregory Peck, and Rock Hudson dined many an evening in the prestigious St. Anthony Club.

Remember the Alamo

I couldn't visit San Antonio without getting the obligatory Alamo picture. Besides, I needed to add one to my collection.

Good Morning, Good Morning

This is one of Laura's favorite pictures that I have taken. It was captured one foggy morning outside my old apartment in Fort Worth. It was one of the first pictures I took after getting my current camera and might have been the catalyst for my new hobby.

The World Series In Texas...Need I Say More?

Tailgating...And Laura doesn't even like baseball. The World Series in Arlington?I must say, I never thought my Texas Rangers would EVER accomplish as much as they did in 2010. Winning the Division, winning a series, Winning the American League Pennant and making it to the World Series has made for a magical season. I was lucky enough to get to go to Game 4 of the WS but sadly they lost. And on the very next night the SF Giants won the Championship. It may not have been the ending I had hoped for but it sure was an exciting ride!
Thanks Texas!!!

Austin City Limits Music Festival

Band of Horses
The Eagles close out Sunday NightThe 2010 ACL lineup featured acts such as Phish, Muse, The Eagles, Vampire Weekend, Spoon, Norah Jones and many, many more. This year the dates where moved to October and promoters were rewarded with some of the most gorgeous weather the festival has ever seen. Laura and I were not sure we were going to get to attend but at the last minute scored a pair of Sunday passes for $50 each!! Thank God for a broke college kid looking for some fast-cash. Being Austinites now, we will not miss a moment of the 2011 festival and have those dates already marked on the calender.
See ya in 2011!!!

Get Your Sandal's On

Newlyweds After the crazy-hectic wedding week....er, month, Laura and I headed to the Bahamas for a week of sun and relaxation. Usually I am ambitious and venture out into the city to find interesting places but sadly we just layed by the pool all day and did very little exploring. I did manage to grab a few cool shots around our resort for you all to enjoy.
